We are currently seeking a dynamic and engaged individual to assume the position of Planner I with the Planning and Development Department

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Planning and Environment, and working with other departmental and interdepartmental staff, the incumbent is responsible for responding to public inquiries on land use and development; assists the public in application submission and review; makes decisions on development permit applications; and conducts investigations of complaints and violations of the Zoning By-law and gathers information. Responsibility also includes tracking development permit application data and provides updates in department website contents working with Planning Coordinator and City Clerks division.

The position requires working knowledge of Municipal and Territorial legislation relating to planning and development, strong communication, records management and time management skills. This can normally be obtained by graduation from a recognized university degree in urban and regional planning or related field with 0-2 years of related experience, preferably in local government setting.

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive annual salary range of $85,780 - $103,445.91, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450, and a defined benefit pension plan.
