Job Description
In addition to fulfilling the requirements of the Mechanical Designer, a Team Leader’s responsibilities also include the duties listed below.
TEAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education:
A post-secondary diploma, degree or equivalent qualification, specializing in mechanical design.
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in an industrial development environment, producing custom machinery design. Proven leadership qualities including; good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with and motivate team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion. This includes hands-on experience in manufacturing and machine debug.

Job Description
In addition to fulfilling the requirements of the Mechanical Designer, a Team Leader’s responsibilities also include the duties listed below.
TEAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Single point of contact for his/her team both to delegate work & requests & to escalate issues
- General supervision, training, and guidance of all Mechanical engineering designers that are part of his/her team
- Responsible for team performance in respect to meeting departmental and project based milestone and KPIs
- Accountability for Delivery, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Safety and Idea Completion for their team
- Foster and atmosphere of creativity, efficiency, and collaboration within the team
- Roll out company & departmental objectives to team members
- Evaluate team member performance and complete regular reviews
- Conduct 1:1 with team members on regular basis to continuously develop & coach them
- Responsible for Cost and Schedule oversight of all the projects assigned to the team
- Assigns his/her team to the day to day direct labour activities thru daily standup meetings
- Ensures, checks and approves that all work product produced by his/her design team members are acceptable based on the functionality, adherence to standards, accuracy, completeness, and consideration for safety.
- Work with team and encourage team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, support implementation of suggestions and confirm completion of continuous improvement suggestions.
- Approves all material requisitions for projects assigned to his/her team.
- Ensures that scheduled milestones relating to Mechanical engineering design are achieved.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Managers to set goals and manage successful performance for his/her team members.
- Reviews and evaluates new Mechanical design related products to provide a cost effective, and up-to-date mechanical solution.
- Ensures that all employees, under their direction, are aware of, and follow all Health and Safety procedures, established by the Company & responsible for Safety of all employees in his team
- Ensures that all employees receive job specific training so as to be able to work effectively, and where needed, provide the employee with written instructions
- Understanding of all Jobs done by your team – can cover anyone during vacation / absence
- Create Concept Designs and Basis Of Design (BOD) Documents
- Ensures that Peer to Peer Reviews are completed (verify work of team members
- Assist in detail deign when required by Team Members
- Participates in development and implementation of tools, methods and modules ensuring standards maintained.
- Works with other members of the Mechanical Design department and other teams to continuously improve methods and tools for Mechanical design, driving enhanced modularity, standardization, and functionality.
- Works with members of the Mechanical Design department and other teams to ensure that cost and schedule budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
- Collaborates with Applications team in support of proposals and owns the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
- Works with team members, customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a product or service compliant with their requirements.
- Attend Project and Customer Approval Meetings
