Job Summary
The Category Manager, Corporate Services is responsible for leading the development and execution of innovative Category Management strategies that deliver sustainable enterprise value including achievement of cost reduction targets. The position has direct reports and leads cross-functional teams, including business unit Leadership and other functions to develop strategies. Moreover, the role works closely with suppliers to drive successful Category management, to optimize procurement planning, and to recommend strategic priorities. Furthermore, the incumbent contributes to the development of Category Analysts and Senior Procurement Specialists, providing ongoing coaching and assignment of on-the-job experience. The role requires collaboration with business units and stakeholders to manage categories from demand planning through to contract execution, administration and renewal.
Main Responsibilities
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires minimal travel (10%) within North America.

Main Responsibilities
- Establish Category Management objectives, strategies, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets, as well as supplier management strategies
- Support the Human Resources Transformation plan and support the different Centre of Excellence teams (COE’s)
- Lead and support contract negotiations with a wide range of suppliers including technology and Software as a Service (SAS) vendors, recruitment firms, niche services firms, and professional services providers
- Oversee demand planning and forecasting activities relevant to the category
- Lead the spend analysis and segmentation of categories based (i.e., considering demand and organization or market changes)
- Lead Category Analysts and Senior Procurement Specialists in the development and implementation of Category Management strategies (e.g., sourcing processes, evaluation, negotiation), while measuring and reporting these activities
- Provide status and raise risks to functional leaders in the organization
- Monitor supplier performance while managing key relationships
- Establish best in class contract management principles and compliance management practices
- Identify opportunities to gain business and executive commitment through the development and the presentation of business cases
- Support the development of skills and execution of talent management plans

Requirements
Experience
Strategic Procurement or Supply Chain Operations
- Minimum 7 years of experience in strategic procurement or supply chain operations
- Experience in Information and Technology (I&T), Operational Technology (OT), Software, Professional and Consulting Services*
- Experience in Human Resources (HR) functions*
- Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or Operations Management, or related degree*
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)*
- Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

- Very strong contract negotiation skills
- Strong understanding of legal terms and conditions including but not limited to, liability, indemnification, data ownership, intellectual property, service level commitments, and confidentiality
- Strong financial abilities, including understanding of Total Cost of Ownership and Net Present Value concepts
- Complete understanding of category management, contracting and pricing models
- Knowledge of CN’s procurement policies and procedures
- Knowledge of rail transportation or logistic industry
