This opportunity:

Reporting to the Controller, the Manager, Accounts Payable will lead a team consisting of an AP Supervisor and roughly 8 indirect reports. This role is aimed to drive the transformation of the payables function through further development of the team as well as in process improvement through implementation of streamlined policies, procedures, and systems. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership capabilities, a detail-oriented mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable department while also playing a critical role in building a scalable AP function to support the organization.


What you’ll be doing:

The AP Manager will be responsible for these key areas:


Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of AP specialists and an AP supervisor, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure proper training and cross-training to build a resilient and knowledgeable team.
  • Monitor employee productivity and workload to best utilize team members and re-allocate work appropriately.


Policy & Process Development

  • Design, document, and implement new AP policies and procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  • Establish controls and best practices to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Partner with internal departments to align processes and support organizational needs.
  • Evaluate current workflows and recommend improvements to drive automation and reduce manual work.


Operational Oversight

  • Oversee full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, and payment runs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring prompt communication and issue resolution.
  • Monitor AP aging reports and ensure timely payment to vendors.
  • Communicate with finance group to ensure accounts are funded appropriately


Technology & Systems

  • Assist in the implementation or optimization of AP systems or software, working closely with IT and finance teams.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation and digitization to streamline processes.


Qualifications- Required skills-

We are seeking individuals who has the right leadership qualities to further transform this AP Function.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, with at least 3 years in leadership role.
  • Effective people management skills including the ability to performance manage, coach and develop others.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, finance or related discipline is preferred.
  • Ability to manage confidential information effectively
  • Proven experience developing and implementing AP policies and process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Where:

Vancouver- hybrid in office 3 days a week.


How Much:

Competitive base salary in the range of $95-110,000 plus bonus and benefits.
