We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Drafting Technologist to join our Electrical Utilities & Renewables design team in our Halifax, Nova Scotia office. Your Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the Future of Clean Energy: Contribute to the drafting design of electrical systems, including power transmission and distribution, substation layouts, protection and control systems, and SCADA systems;
- Craft with Precision: Perform accurate and detailed drafting work, including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit for both 2D drafting and 3D modelling;
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to refine design concepts, perform engineering calculations, and ensure project specifications meet client needs and regulatory standards;
- Support Project Success: Prepare technical reports and tender documents.
- Educational Background: A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology is preferred. Candidates with diplomas in CAD-related fields such as Civil or Structural Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, Architectural Drafting, or similar programs will also be considered;
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical CAD drafting is preferred, but we are open to candidates with less experience who are eager to learn and grow;
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation, and Revit, as well as 3D component modelling software with ability to create and edit electrical designs and equipment;
- Team Player: A collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team environment; and
- Organized and Detail-Oriented: Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and pay attention to detail through the coordination of complex design packages.
- Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment is highly desirable;
- Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or the ability to become registered is preferred;
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, AGI32 lighting simulation software, and SKM Power*Tools or other electrical simulation software is a plus; and
- Past use of Bluebeam Revu for collaboration and review of drawings is beneficial;
- Experience in graphic design with ability to generate aesthetic drawings is considered a strong asset.
