Job Description
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be a key contributor to the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical solutions. Your strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies will ensure that the products developed under your leadership meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
You will report directly to our Sr Hardware Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Kanata, ON location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, the primary responsibility will be to support and drive and creation of hardware designs, solving challenging technical programs and the development of new products.
The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP and CSP security clearance.

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and drive the mechanical design process from concept to finished product of electro-mechanical system
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and specifications
- Design and develop complex parts and enclosures for SATCOM products
- Perform mechanical analysis and simulations to ensure project performance and reliability
- Creating Drawings & Designs for Mechanical Parts/Assemblies
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
- Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and technologies
- Verification/updating drawings to conform with ASME standards
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with mechanical analysis and simulation tools
- Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD software.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Hands-on experience with building assemblies, running cables, etc.
- Familiarity with aerospace specifications
- The ability to perform modeling of parts with complex geometries
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies
- Familiarity with ASME standards
- Knowledge of Mentor Graphics, circuit card design interfaces to mechanical CAD
- Experience working with electronic assemblies
- Product Data Management (PDM) system experience
- Familiarity with sheet metal forming, CNC machining and injection molding requirements
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Can rapidly assess a situation and decide on corrective action responses, identify and remove barriers to success
- Proven track record of successful mechanical design projects
- Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies
