We are currently looking for an Accounts Payable Manager, Affiliate Payables and Vendor Inquiries at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON. This is classified as a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days in office.

The VGCA Accounting Shared Services Centre provides essential back-office accounting functions for General Ledger, Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Affiliates, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets for multiple VW Group Companies including Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Chattanooga factory production, and electric vehicle infrastructure in Canada and the United States.

The Accounts Payable Manager leads the professional personnel of the Accounts Payable team within VGCA Accounting Shared Services. This includes accurate and timely processing of affiliate payable related invoices and credits, statement reconciliations, and aging in accordance with corporate policies and procedures effectively and efficiently for the Volkswagen Group Canada accounting shared service. This role is also responsible for the overall management of trade and affiliate vendor inquiries, ensuring that all responses are timely, complete and professional.

The Accounts Payable Manager supports with various audits, providing audit requirements and analysis for various external and internal audits (quarterly, year-end, group audits).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of 2 Analysts, 3 Specialists and 2 Coordinators (7 direct reports)
  • Establish and negotiate specific performance objectives for each individual team member and ensure alignment to Accounting Services’ corporate objectives.
  • Monitor teams’ performance versus established departmental and individual role metrics and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Responsible for the hiring and on-boarding of new staff.
  • Ensure all affiliate vendor reconciliations are complete and approved; in transit aging is managed appropriately
  • Review monthly aging schedules, reports and fluctuations.
  • Ensure all accounting reconciliations are complete and approved; aging is managed appropriately
  • Ensure that all trade and affiliate vendor inquiries, ensuring that all responses are timely, complete and professional
  • Ensure all entries originating within areas of responsibility are in compliance with IFRS and Group guidelines.
  • Ensure accounting processes are properly and adequately supported and documented.
  • Conduct meetings as required to discuss and resolve accounting issues, process improvements and identify risks proposing solutions and escalating as appropriate.
  • Develop, monitor, and support processes to compensate for open issues and develop solutions by working closely with other departments.
  • Ensure all areas of process maps, narratives, control matrices and desk procedures are prepared, updated, tested, and maintained, and ensure relevant internal controls are adhered to by team members.
  • All other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA Designation is considered an asset
  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role, shared services experience is considered a strong asset
  • 2+ years’ supervisory experience is required
  • Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Solid knowledge of functional accounting methods and application of IFRS and ICFR.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of MS Office suit, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills – Written, oral and presentation to document, articulate and convey functions and processes.
  • Analytical skills – Ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes and identify risks and process improvements.
  • Works well under strict deadlines with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong business acumen – understanding of large, complex organizations and ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to work overtime as required during peak times
