Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead/Principal Contracts Officer to join our growing Project Services Group (PSG) or a specific project team in Mississauga Ontario. Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Manager, the Lead/Principal Contracts will provide support to the Project Services Group (PSG) or a specific project.

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to support our engineering and project delivery group. This role requires expertise in both client-facing agreements and downstream subcontractor/vendor agreements, with deep knowledge of CCDC, FIDIC, and custom contract frameworks. You will play a key role in commercial execution, risk management, and contractual compliance across all project phases.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Prepare tender documents ensuring aligning with the project goals, schedules remaining compliance with the company processes and legal standards.
  • Administer and manage complex client contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop and implement contracting strategies for engineering, procurement, and construction work packages.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contract terms and conditions for both upstream (client) and downstream (subcontractor/vendor) agreements.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standard forms (CCDC, FIDIC) and client, bespoke-specific requirements.
  • Support project teams with interpretation of contractual obligations, change management, and claims resolution.
  • Monitor contract execution, risk, and performance through the full contract lifecycle.
  • Maintain contract documentation, approvals, and audit trails in compliance with corporate policies and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with legal, engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure contract compliance and mitigate risk.

The expertise you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Engineering, Business, or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of experience in contract management within an EPCM firm, ideally in mining or large capital projects.
  • Direct experience managing client-facing agreements, as well as subcontract and vendor contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of CCDC, FIDIC, and custom contractual frameworks.
  • Proficient in contract negotiation, risk allocation, and claims/dispute processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of interfacing with both clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting major mining projects in Canada or internationally.
  • Familiarity with contract management software (e.g., Aconex, SAP, Prolog).
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, SCMP, CCP, or PMP.
  • Bilingual in English and French (considered an asset for roles in Quebec or international assignments).
