Our Change Enablement team aspires to enable our P&C Insurance Solutions partner to drive successful outcomes through business enablement support services, expertise and capabilities.
The Senior Desktop Publisher leads the production, proofing, and delivery of manuals for CGIC, and other companies as needed. Reviews the work produced by other desktop publishers. Co-ordinates deadlines with clients. Acts as the technical support person for desktop publishing (DTP) software and processes, including organizing and maintaining an archival system.

The Senior Desktop Publisher leads the production, proofing, and delivery of manuals for CGIC, and other companies as needed. Reviews the work produced by other desktop publishers. Co-ordinates deadlines with clients. Acts as the technical support person for desktop publishing (DTP) software and processes, including organizing and maintaining an archival system.
How You Will Create Impact
- Format and combine text, numerical data, images and charts to produce professionally designed, publication-ready English and French manuals using desktop publishing software.
- Act as the technical support person including keeping templates up to date; participating in the testing and evaluation of software and processes; helping other content publishers across the group of companies with software or technical issues. Review the work of other desktop publishers to advance their publishing and technical skills.
- Maintain a database tracking system for publishing and archived projects. Manage an archival system of paper/electronic files of current and archived projects.
- Manage the co-ordination of manual deadlines and workflows to achieve targets.
- Consult with internal clients to obtain a clear understanding of requirements, negotiate deadlines, provide guidance on organization and flow of projects, and maintain ongoing communication with the client throughout the project.
- Implement and maintain the best practices, publishing standards and technical documentation for the team and continually improving existing processes and procedures to meet the changing needs of clients.
- Create, update and deploy web-based content for the internet/intranet. Act as back up for posting news to five sites on our company-wide intranet and retiree website as needed.
- Prepare project files to an internet-ready format, upload them to server, ensure online content is current and accessible and coordinate for paper distribution. Perform quality checks of all published documents including electronic navigation.

- Your strong communication skills allow you to clearly convey messages.
- You’re an effective team player who shares knowledge to support your peers.
- 3-5 years business experience in a similar type of role.
- Superior knowledge of FrameMaker and Webworks publisher and ability to teach and support others in use of such tools.
- Strong computer skills are an asset, specifically in MS Word, Adobe Acrobat and Distiller, Web applications, Excel, Photoshop, Bee text, Lotus Notes, Co-op News database and HTML.
- Proven technical experience in working in a multi-tasking environment and a sense of urgency in dealing with time-sensitive material.
- Strong understanding of file/data management, archiving and document formatting and styles, and presentation techniques.
- Ability to provide accurate professional work, grammatical editing, and proofing.
- Proficiency in French is an asset.
- You have a college diploma (Preferably in Visual Arts or a related field)
