Freelance Data Optimization Specialist

Holistic Industries, Inc. is seeking a Data Optimization Specialist with strong experience in SQL Querying & Optimization, Data Wrangling, and Ad Hoc Analysis.

The Data Optimization Specialist will be a key contributor to our Business Intelligence team, helping to streamline and clean our data infrastructure to improve the accuracy, reliability, and usability of reporting across the organization. This role focuses heavily on writing efficient SQL queries, diagnosing and resolving data quality issues, and creating more scalable, centralized data pipelines.

We’re looking for someone who will be proficient in:

• Data Quality & Cleanup: Identify inconsistencies, missing values, duplications, and other issues within large datasets. Design and implement SQL-based processes to resolve them.
• SQL Querying & Optimization: Develop efficient, scalable SQL queries that power reports, dashboards, and internal analytics processes. Refactor legacy queries for performance and clarity.
• Data Wrangling: Use SQL to transform, clean, and optimize data queries for use in Power BI dashboards, leveraging read-only access to the SQL-based data warehouse as to not disrupt current data structure.
• Collaboration & Support: Partner with BI analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data pain points and proactively improve data reliability and accessibility.
• Documentation & Templates: Document assumptions, logic, and best practices to enable consistent reuse of cleaned datasets or common transformations.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Support fast-turn data requests and build exploratory queries to assist in decision-making and root cause analysis.
• Other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request from any member of management.
  
  

We are looking for someone who enjoy working in messy data environments and has a passion for turning disjointed, inconsistent data into trusted, actionable information for stakeholders. While this role will directly support our Power BI environment, Power BI expertise is not required — rather, a strong SQL foundation and attention to data integrity are essential.
