We’re looking for a DevOps Release Engineer to join our team within our Winnipeg Office OR Remotely.
As a Release Engineer you will own the health and flow of our software delivery pipeline. This role blends technical automation with cross-functional coordination, helping us deliver features to customers with speed, stability, and confidence. You’ll shape how we release, from CI/CD pipelines to deployment readiness, risk management, and release validation. Take ownership of the release pipeline, design and evolve tooling to support deployment automation, and embed quality assurance into every stage of delivery. You’ll contribute to release activities coordination, deployments validation and automation, incident management, and building guardrails for safe releases.

- Design, maintain, and improve automated release pipelines in collaboration with DevOps. Ensure pipelines are secure, observable, and compliant with internal and external requirements.
- Coordinate release readiness by running Go/No-go meetings, verify release readiness, ensure clear documentation (release notes, test reports, rollback plans), and drive accountability across teams.
- Work closely with Test Engineers to ensure automated and exploratory validation is part of the release process. Embed automation checkpoints and support validation of hotfixes, patches, and regular releases.
- Lead and execute deployment plans in coordination with product cross-functional and platform teams. Ensure clear ownership, communication, and contingency plans for all release activities.
- Risk and change management: Identify, document, and mitigate release risks early. Provide visibility into release scope and status to stakeholders.
- Continuously improve the way we release: refine pipelines, tooling, and team processes to improve flow and make development more reliable. Analyze release failures, outages, and rework to continuously improve flow efficiency, stability, and speed. Introduce automated fitness functions and deployment quality gates where necessary.
- Promote release best practices by guiding development teams on branching strategies, versioning, and release hygiene. Promote a culture of shared responsibility for release success across teams.
- A systems thinker who obsesses over flow, feedback and delivery reliability.
- Pragmatic and detail-oriented, with a focus on reliability and developer enablement.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Proactive in surfacing risk, resolving bottlenecks, and enabling teams to ship with confidence.
- 3+ years in Release Engineering, DevOps, or Build & Deployment roles.
- Strong experience of CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
- Familiarity with automated testing practices and validation workflows.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code.
- Familiarity with concepts behind cloud-native applications and distributed architecture.
- Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle with a focus on flow efficiency, rapid delivery, and continuous feedback.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Experience with release management in regulated environments is a bonus.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch) and release toggles is a bonus.
- Knowledge of observability stacks, experience with feature flags and blue/green/canary releases is an asset.
