About the workplace
We are looking for a Senior Compliance Consultant who has advanced knowledge in regulatory compliance risk management which can include Member Code of Conduct, The Financial Consumer Protection Framework, Common Reporting Standard, Foreign Account Tax, Canada Anti-Spam Legislation, Financial Institution Act, Back Act amongst others. Working closely with the lines of business as part of the ongoing regulatory change management process, you would provide guidance and support as needed.
This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.
A typical day would involve:
- Ensure Vancity and Vancity Investment Bank (VCIB) will receive effective advice and recommendations in alignment to our Regulatory Compliance Framework ensuring Compliance Risk is effectively managed.
- Monitor, track, and report on effectiveness of the Organization's regulatory compliance framework to manage the compliance risk inherent in our business activities enterprise wide.
- Review complex new or amended legislation applicable to Vancity/VCIB, supporting the organization through creating high quality plain language summaries of the change, identify relevant risk and compliance owners they are applicable to, assist them in the awareness of and oversee the implementation of the changes in a timely manner
- Monitor and develop Vancity and VCIB enterprise level processes, policies and procedures, as well as compliance oversight controls, to enable management to make effective business decisions.
- Provide analytic support and recommendations for compliance and operational initiatives/projects to enable to achievement of organization and department goals.
- Support the delivery of enterprise regulatory compliance education and training, to build and maintain a compliance culture at all levels across the organization that drives change.
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the Compliance Teams and/or Risk and Compliance owners.
You have:
- Bachelor or advanced degree in Business &/or related field. Professional Designation would be considered an asset
- Minimum 4-6 years of progressive experience in compliance, legal, audit and/or risk management within financial services.
- Excellent knowledge of legislation and regulations impacting Credit Unions and Banks and the ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, simplify and communicate complex legislative and regulatory requirements to stakeholders
- Knowledge of the Compliance Risk Assessment methodology and process, demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance and/or risk management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations, standards of compliance with applicable rules/legislation.
- Experience with operational risk systems and strong knowledge of financial products and services and the various corporate functions.

- An effective communicator - Using your impactful communication and interpersonal skills, you act as a resource for the specialized area, providing specialized advice, guidance, explanations, and related support; you also participate in the development of program content.
- A problem solver & decision maker - You use these skills to apply specific standards and guidelines to the work escalating unresolved issues to senior staff.

The salary range for this role is $81,200 to $122,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
