We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead critical backend development initiatives focused on improving the host intake experience for a high-profile client in the hospitality sector. This role requires strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin, microservices architecture, and experience working within Kubernetes environments. You will be responsible for delivering high-scale backend services, collaborating cross-functionally with Machine Learning and Intelligence teams, and mentoring junior engineers.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $37.37/hour - $58.39/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Key Responsibilities
- Act as an independent contributor capable of navigating the complete software development lifecycle with minimal guidance
- Develop, test, and maintain scalable microservices using Java/Kotlin within a Kubernetes-based infrastructure
- Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver robust backend solutions
- Build and maintain well-structured APIs including REST and GraphQL interfaces
- Support data flow and algorithmic efficiency within distributed systems and high-volume pipelines
- Participate in code reviews, working sessions, and technical discussions with both onsite and remote teams
- Mentor junior team members and assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer
- Minimum 5 years of backend development experience in large-scale systems
- Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages
- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization using Kubernetes
- Experience with GraphQL APIs
- Understanding of large-scale system design patterns, distributed systems, and data pipelines
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical and client-facing teams
- Willing to engage with various parts of the backend stack to solve complex issues
- Communicates clearly in both technical and non-technical settings
- Comfortable working in cross-time zone and multicultural teams
- Demonstrates ownership mindset and adaptability in client-driven environments
