Position Summary

We are looking for a Supply Chain Specialist to join our team on an 18-month contract and play a key role in our procurement operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and sourcing the goods required for our day-to-day operations, ensuring they arrive on time, meet quality standards, and are cost-effective. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with sharp negotiation skills and a passion for building efficient, reliable supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Source and purchase goods, materials, and services needed for daily operations in alignment with established procurement policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate quotes, and negotiate to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Track and analyze procurement spend to uncover cost-saving opportunities and optimize purchasing decisions.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP):

  • Review and action messages in NetSuite’s MRP workbench, guided by demand plans and inventory targets.
  • Place purchase orders and oversee fulfillment from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, materials, quality, and logistics teams to align material availability with manufacturing needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust procurement plans to maintain optimal stock while minimizing excess, stock outs, and carrying costs.

Supplier Management:

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, addressing any quality or pricing discrepancies and ensuring delivery schedules align with purchase order release dates.
  • Assess supplier performance using key metrics like on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness, and proactively address any performance issues.
  • Identify and assess new suppliers to expand the supplier base and reduce supply chain risk.

Internal Cross-functional Support:

  • Support Finance in resolving receipt and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Partner with Production to resolve issues related to non-conforming materials.
  • Manage vendor communication, including RMA obtainment and follow-ups related to status and resolution.
  • Assist the Quality team in communicating supplier-facing quality concerns as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs through process optimization or automation.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives focused on enhancing supply chain performance and effectiveness.
  • Stay up to date on best practices in MRP and supply chain management to continuously build knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain functions.
  • Experience with NetSuite (supply planning and actioning workbench planned orders).
  • Skilled negotiator with a track record of securing favourable terms and pricing with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and GSuite.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
