The Manager Strategic Research is responsible for conducting research on complex insurance-related topics and providing insightful analysis to inform strategic decision making and business plan development, support regional offices to improve client relations, operational efficiencies and enhance competitive performance. This position efficiently communicates findings throughout the organization in a variety of formats to meet the needs of the business. The position seeks to leverage research findings to create thought-leadership content, professional reports and presentations which build brand awareness, introduce research capabilities, support commercialization opportunities and exemplify RGA’s expertise.

This role is hybrid to any North America RGA office.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities-essential Functions

  • Works independently to lead cross-functional research for emerging strategic research initiatives including business model development, partner evaluations, market assessments and competitor profiling, including the communication of results to senior management.
  • Masters a portfolio of third-party research services to maximize business value from these engagements to provide in-depth research support to local, regional, and global stakeholders on a variety of topics, in a timely manner.
  • Proactively tracks third-party research on topics of strategic importance to RGA to efficiently share intelligence to the organization. This requires both a detailed understanding of the sources of knowledge but also an awareness of the needs of the key stakeholders in the organization.
  • This position works independently to prepare reports and forecasts of market and competitor trends drawing relevant conclusions and making recommendations.
  • Develop research summaries of third-party research to produce easily consumable findings that inform RGA strategy, competitive landscape, and client communications. Uses in-depth knowledge of, both, the insurance/reinsurance industry, and competitive intelligence best practices, to produce the insights.
  • Leads research projects to facilitate decision making, including, but not limited to, market assessments, competitor profiling, company briefings, intelligence briefings, newsletters, research summaries, and white papers.
  • Leads the development of research that ensures senior management and key stakeholders priority intelligence needs are met and updated, and that they are communicated appropriately and in a timely manner within the company.
  • Summarize and synthesize material from a variety of sources on behalf of all areas of RGA.
  • Collaborate with other Research and Development-sponsored initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

Required

  • Master’s degree in business
  • 7+ years’ experience in research and analysis and content development or equivalent work experience

Preferred

  • 5+ years Financial Services with reinsurance experience
  • Appropriate accreditation or progress towards industry accreditation
  • Project Management capabilities

  • Effective ability to organize and share research findings with a large variety of audiences using internal collaboration tools such as SharePoint.
  • Ability to lead small teams; collaborate with research area associates; contribute to group project outcomes; and benefit from constructive feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Contribute to a productive spirit of cooperation and project coordination among global offices on research related topics
  • Ability to foster teamwork and a customer service focused environment.

Compensation Range

$97,450.00 - $121,800.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
