Reporting to the Manager, Finance Contract Administration, the Team Lead Financial Operations provides independent quality review with a focus on contract management transactions including ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting standards. The position is responsible for the identification of issues and the preparation and delivery of training and process improvement. The role provides support in creating billing payment plans for complex contracts and acts as a subject matter specialist for contract management administration
What you’ll be doing
- Support junior staff by providing guidance and support through coaching and training, while also establishing clear and effective work priorities to foster professional growth and development.
- Lead and oversee the implementation and maintenance of robust quality control programs, ensuring compliance with internal controls requirements and best practices to safeguard the organization's financial integrity and enhance its overall financial governance.
- Serve as a subject matter specialist to support creation of billing payment plans based on interpretation and application of contracts, legislation and accounting standards and practices and ensure appropriate recording in electronic systems
- Review contracts to ensure appropriate application of accounting standards and identify where corrections and changes are required
- Review the lifecycle for individual contracts to ensure compliance with all requirements and identify needed corrections and changes
- Review electronic records of contract transactions (payments and receivables) to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Based on the identification of compliance gaps and deficiencies, support and/or create improvement initiatives including new tools / templates, report design and processes
- Develop and deliver training programs on contract financial administration to internal employees
What you’ll bring to CCC
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business or commerce
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting services and/or business services including experience related to people management
- Knowledge of relevant internal controls framework, accounting standards and reporting requirements within the public sector environment
- Knowledge, skills and experience in managing quality assurance programs and related continuous improvement and training (design and delivery)
- English Essential. Proficiency in both official languages is highly desirable
