Background

We are looking for results driven qualified Millwrights who want to be part of our progressive maintenance team. Individuals who want to work in a safety driven environment, who can efficiently and effectively execute all aspects of the Millwright trade; rebuilding, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment to support our manufacturing operation's needs.

Responsibilities

Our asset tradespeople are dedicated to one of our production asset teams where they are responsible for the equipment in these areas. These asset areas include Cokemaking, Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Material Handling and Logistics, Hot Mill, Cold Roll Tin, Galvanize, Utilities, Pickling and Cold Rolling. Millwrights assigned to an asset team responsible for ensuring the reliability of our production facilities which includes daily preventative maintenance tasks as well as shutdown prep/post work.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team made up of multiple trades.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines and wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect, troubleshoot, and investigate irregularities
  • Perform mechanical maintenance functions on all equipment to maintain and improve equipment reliability
  • Repair or replace machinery parts as required including full equipment rebuilds
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematic, and drawings to determine work procedures and/or order necessary parts
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Assist with proactive and reactive troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment to minimize production downtime and delays
  • Actively contribute to the preventative maintenance program by providing recommendations for improvement

Desired Skills And Experience

  • 433A or 426A Millwright Certificate of Qualification
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic personal computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Capable of physically demanding work (both indoors and outdoors)
  • Self-starter able to follow directions and take initiative
  • Previous experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment

Hours Of Work

  • 12-hour rotating shift schedule with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads. Shift schedule will include nights and weekends.
  • Shift work for shutdowns and occasional shift relief coverage.
  • Must be willing to be available for emergency call in support.
  • Potential rotating on call coverage for trade within the business unit.
  • Must be prepared for a quick turnaround in scheduling as required by critical work.

Work Environment

  • Heavy industrial environment
  • Depending on the area of the plant use of respirators, fresh air breathing apparatus and standard plant safety equipment may also be required.
  • Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, products, and by-products associated with the manufacture of steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facilities.
