Data Scientist -Time-Series
Themis Intelligence

We’re looking for a highly motivated co-op student with a strong foundation in statistics, mathematics, or computer science, and a passion for time-series modeling and AI applications in real-world systems. As a co-op/intern on our team, you'll support the development and benchmarking of models for forecasting energy, alarms, and other temporal signals. You’ll experiment with statistical baselines and modern deep learning approaches, help prepare datasets, evaluate model performance, and contribute to rapid experimentation workflows. This is an ideal role for students who’ve completed coursework in AI or statistics, and who’ve explored side projects or research in ML, forecasting, or data analysis.
What you’ll be doing?
Time-Series Modeling &Evaluation
- Assist in training and evaluating varioustime-series models (forecasting and clustering)
- Analyze model performance using robust metrics(MAE, RMSE, MAPE, etc.).
- Explore featureengineering techniques like lagging, windowing, and temporal aggregation.
Experimentation & Reporting
- Run and document reproducible experiments using environments, such as Jupyter Notebook
- Help maintain benchmarkdatasets and contribute to performance comparison reports.
- Investigatethe impact of different model architectures and data preprocessing choices.
ML Pipeline Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ingest, clean, synthesize, and transform large datasets.
- Write utility scriptsin Python and use SQL to exploreand prepare data for modeling.
- Support pipelinedevelopment for model training and evaluation.
You Might Be a Good Fit If You...
- Are currently pursuinga bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Math, Physics, Statistics, CS, Engineering)
- Have completed coursework in statistics, machine learning, or AI
- Like learning tools and technologies from bottom up
- Have worked on ML or data science side projects, especially involvingtime-series or forecasting
- Are comfortable codingin Python, working with Jupyter notebooks, and using pandas or Polars for analysis.
- Are curious, organized, and eager to learn from hands-on experimentation.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
- Exposure to ML evaluation tools
- Familiarity with energy systems, geospatial or IoT sensordata.
- Interest in applying theory to practical projects, the state-of-the-art models, forecasting uncertainty, or advanced model training approaches.

About Us:
Themis Intelligence (a Survalent Company) is pioneering a new era of grid modernization through Human-Guided Intelligence (HGI) – blending AI with the real-world insight of utility operators. Our mission is to help utilities operate with greater foresight, resilience, and confidence by turning vast streams of operational data into reliable, actionable intelligence. Built for the physics of the grid and the people who manage it, our platform supports critical workflows: from forecasting and alarm analysis to outage response and SCADA-centric analytics – with AI agents designed specifically for utility environments. By combining deep technical rigor with an understanding of physical infrastructure, we enable smarter, faster decisions that drive safer and more efficient power delivery.
Backed by Survalent’s long-standing leadership in ADMS, Themis Intelligence offers a modern foundation for data-driven decision-making in one of the world’s most essential sectors. We’re building tools that matter – systems that learn, adapt, and scale in lockstep with the evolving grid. For those passionate about solving high-impact problems at the intersection of AI, data, and energy, this is where your work can power the future.
