The Role
As a key member of our team the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the HR Department for the resort and its associated programs. The role will be responsible for the development and operations of the department, as well as designing and implementing all policies and procedures for the resort. The Human Resources Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all employee-related matters and will play an active role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting organizational growth through learning and development initiatives. The role provides guidance to leaders and employees on a range of areas including HR legislation and policy, employee relations, performance management, compensation, recruitment, and training. The ideal candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry.

The Role

Your contributions to the team include:
- Advise managers on interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Provide consultation to managers regarding employee relation issues.
- Assist with the processing of terminations.
- Investigate employee concerns and ensure follow through from beginning to end.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures.
- Develop relationships with local community employment agencies.
- Research and identify best practices in compensation and benefits.
- Identify and address issues that affect the overall health of the company, morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism, and productivity.
- Provide training for supervisors and managers for performance management, conflict resolution, discipline, and terminations.
- Support employee engagement program initiatives.
- Design, facilitate and manage training programs for all soft and technical skills.
- Collaborate with management staff to assess employee training needs.
- Record and track completion of training programs organization wide.
- Produce training materials for in-house training.
- Regularly audit onboarding tools to ensure effectiveness and positive experience for new hires.
- Lead the resort’s immigration program.
- Liaise with government and other external organizations regarding foreign recruitment.
- Build durable, sustainable, and flexible processes that produce positive and reliable results for an immigration program.
- Establish impact assessments and response strategies to new immigration policies.
- Support current employees with work permit documentation requirements or permanent residency application.
- Additional tasks and duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist role.
- Previous experience in the tourism & hospitality industry.
- Extensive knowledge of the LMIA and IRC processes.
- Knowledge of current trends, principles, and developments in the Human Resources field.
- Ability to interpret and apply provincial employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Proven conflict resolution, negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate solutions.
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and employees.
- Excellent in all MS Office suite.
- High level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets.
