Scope of Position

Receiving Inspector III will inspect assembled components (structure assembly), installation kits and mechanical/ hydraulic systems to ensure that all technical data requirements are met in order to support aircraft assembly operations and the First Article Inspection process. The Receiving Inspector III has the responsibility and authority to approve or reject the quality of products, parts and kits being received in the facility. The decision process is based on inspection results by carrying out dimensional, functional and visual inspection during receiving inspection activities.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Perform incoming inspections with appropriate equipment
  • Verify certification and conformity to Engineering and Production Order Specifications
  • Record information in required logs.
  • Communicate with leadership on discrepancies and facilitate returns, properly mark and record rejected material
  • Segregate and quarantine rejected product
  • Use I-Tag system to reject parks not meeting Engineering specifications
  • Monitors daily I-Tag status, monitors and closes pen I-Tags in timely manner.
  • Works with other departments necessary on root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Practise good housekeeping (5S)
  • Follow policies and procedures listed in MHICA and other relative Quality Policies and Procedures (BAPS, MAC 1000, Safety Manual and Production Specifications)

Experience
  • Successful completion of Receiving Inspector II training and prerequisites.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aerospace industry relating to inspection of product and familiarity with aerospace parts and assemblies, manufacturing (machining) and assembly processes.
  • The candidate must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support and excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • Hands on experience and demonstrated skills regarding First Article Inspection process and FAI specific forms and inspection records in compliance with AS 9102 standards.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Non-conformance and Corrective Action Process
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings, part lists, GD&T tolerances and symbols
  • Must be comfortable working in a noisy, fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be physically fit, energetic, agile, willing and able to:
    • work at heights
    • work rotating shifts when and as required
    • bend, twist, walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs repeatedly during shift
    • perform heavy lifting (< 40 lbs) as needed to perform the job
    • stand for 7 hours of an 8-hour shift

Education

  • Technical College combined with a strong quality background.
  • Vocational training regarding inspection of aircraft assemblies, including reading and interpretation of drawings, manufacturing / quality inspection procedures and engineering specifications
