The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and expanding our market presence in both the Aerospace and Defence industries. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in B2B sales or business development, with experience working alongside government agencies and navigating public-sector opportunities. This role will work closely with our business leaders and be responsible for funneling qualified leads and opportunities to each of our locations, while identifying avenues to diversify and strengthen our market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and outbound outreach.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, including government entities and those in the defence and aerospace industries.
  • Collaborate closely with internal business leaders to align development strategies with operational goals and capabilities across all locations.
  • Funnel and distribute leads and opportunities to appropriate sites and teams to maximize conversion and customer alignment.
  • Explore and evaluate new markets and sectors to diversify the business and reduce dependency on existing streams.
  • Lead proposal development, including pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
  • Track and analyze key metrics to inform strategy and optimize performance.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and government-related forums.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline in CRM tools.

Requirements

  • Proven success in driving revenue growth and closing deals.
  • Experience working with government contracts, funding programs, or public-sector procurement processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of the defence and aerospace industries
  • Experience managing multi-location pipelines and lead distribution
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and act on new opportunities
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of sales principles and business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple business units.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
