Business Systems Analyst

We are looking for a skilled and driven Business Analyst to join the Back Office IT team. This role supports business-critical systems by analyzing processes, improving application functionality, and delivering data-driven insights. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of software and web application lifecycles, along with hands-on experience in SQL and business reporting. This position is a great fit for someone who thrives in a hybrid technical/business environment and enjoys solving real-world problems through collaboration, analysis, and innovation.

Responsibilities

· Analyze business processes, gather requirements, and contribute to the design of practical, high-impact IT solutions.

· Support and enhance web-based applications, ensuring system reliability and alignment with business needs.

· Investigate and resolve issues in financial data or reporting by analyzing source data using SQL and other tools.

· Translate business needs into technical requirements and assist in the planning and execution of new functionality.

· Create and execute test plans, support deployments, and document operational procedures.

· Generate operational reports and dashboards using tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders, developers, and vendors to manage small-to-medium initiatives and improve system performance.

· Contribute to Agile project workflows and participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst, with a focus on IT and software/web development environments.

· Proficient in SQL with demonstrated experience in querying and validating complex data sets.

· Familiarity with tools such as DataGrip, Toad, or similar IDEs for database exploration.

· Hands-on experience with BI and reporting tools including Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or SSRS.

· Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.

· Clear and effective communicator with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences.

· Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and solving problems.

· Bonus: exposure to scripting (Python, PowerShell), financial operations, or energy industry systems.
