American Tall is seeking a detail-oriented Fabric Sourcing Technician to support our growing sourcing and product development teams. This role will play a key part in streamlining workflows by managing fabric and vendor sourcing tasks, helping reduce delays and increase efficiency across departments.

American Tall is seeking a detail-oriented Fabric Sourcing Technician to support our growing sourcing and product development teams. This role will play a key part in streamlining workflows by managing fabric and vendor sourcing tasks, helping reduce delays and increase efficiency across departments.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate fabric-related activities, including sourcing, development, sampling, base testing, lab-dip/strike-off/handloom approvals, bulk testing, fabric appearance and handle assessments, color pre-approvals, bulk fabric approvals involvement and guidance on garment washing and dyeing.
- Identify and evaluate vendors based on quality, cost, lead time, and technical capabilities.
- Arrange pre-season lab-dip/strike-off/handloom for approved fabrics in partnership with other design and merchandising team members to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Conduct risk assessments in partnership with quality team during fabric development and provide recommendations to vendors and internal teams to mitigate potential issues.
- Assess test reports from both in-house vendor labs and third-party testing facilities, ensuring follow-ups and corrective actions for underperforming fabrics.
- Review and analyze vendor performance in partnership with quality and production teams, considering product/fabric quality, stakeholder and customer feedback, and third-party fabric testing results.
- Establish and maintain structured documentation for fabric specifications, approvals, and performance tracking.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, merchandisers, sourcing, product development, and production, to enhance fabric selection and quality.
- Create and maintain fabric library in physical and digital format.
- A relevant post-secondary education preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in fabric sourcing, development, or technical fabric management within the apparel industry.
- 3+ years experience actively working with PLM systems.
- Experience with cross functional teams such as design, merchandising, sourcing, product development, production, and 3rd party vendors.
- Strong knowledge of woven and knit fabric construction, testing standards, dyeing, finishing, and garment treatments.
- Experience working with vendors in key sourcing regions, including Bangladesh, India, China and elsewhere.
- Proficient in analyzing test reports and implementing corrective action plans.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills are required; including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong Knowledge of product development planning fundamentals.
- Knowledge of the e-commerce and/or retail space.
- Ability to handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to interact and work collaboratively cross-functionally and within different verticals.
- Excellent English communication skills – written and verbal.

- Travel may come up but very seldom (sourcing shows)
