The Mechanical Claims Examiner - Alberta reporting to Product Protection and Mechanical Claims Manager - Alberta is based in Sherwood Park provides reviews of labor, parts, sublet and any additional charges in relationship to the coverages on a given policy. The purpose is to ensure claims are legitimate and priced at a fair market value.

Hours of work will be: Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 6:00pm, and Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming calls/emails and provide information as required by the nature of the call/email.
  • Log all calls/inquires/claims.
  • Fluent in addressing coverages based on the policy/contract form by number and revision date.
  • Review of estimates confirming labor rates, hours, part prices and related estimate requests.
  • Sourcing of outside sources to keep claim cost at a minimum (aftermarket).
  • Review of requested pictures to confirm the legitimacy of a claim.
  • Claims are researched for repair procedure, recalls and technical bulletins.
  • All claims are to be entered in AS 400 then authorized or declined.
  • Field GPR call inquires, confirm eligibility, and forward applications upon request.
  • Review incoming invoices prior to payment.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma is required.
  • Post-secondary education in the automotive industry is an asset.
  • A Licensed Technician, or experience as a parts person or a service advisor in the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Fluent in English with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is required.
  • Fluent in French with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is an asset.
  • Previous front-line customer interaction via telephone and/or email is highly preferable and is considered and asset.
  • Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis to escalate emergencies during weekends and statutory holidays/Ability to work a rotational Saturday/Statutory holiday is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, education verification, CPA enrollment (where required), license and certification verification (where applicable), and employment reference checks is required before employment.
