About The Role
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Digital and Brand, the content creation advisor:
- Analyzes content for gaps and makes recommendations on the content required based on the communications strategy and processes established by the director of Communications.
- Writes, revises, and edits a wide range of material for publication on various platforms (Web, print, public spaces)
- Collaborates with the managers and the other members of the Communications and Arts Engagement division
- Oversees communications projects and performs other related duties, as required.
- An undergraduate degree in a language-based discipline, journalism or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
- Five (5) years of experience in content production (including writing for the Web and other digital media, copywriting, concepts, speeches, corporate publications, blogs, articles, reports and more).
- Experience in making complex material relatable and easy to understand and with clear, concise, and persuasive writing
- Working knowledge of production processes and standards for a wide variety of documents
- Understanding of emerging trends in visual and written communications (blogs, social networking, etc.) and marketing content (search engines, link building, remarketing etc.)
- Strong knowledge of the arts and of the programs, policies, clients and fields of interest of the Canada Council
- Strong understanding of content principles and strategies, and of basic project management processes
- Strong understanding of best practices and principles in accessible content production for digital and print
- A solid writing portfolio
- Excellent writing, research and editorial skills (including extensive knowledge of editorial standards and rules), as well as an excellent command of one of the official languages and an advanced understanding of the other official language (written and spoken).
- Capacity to create original ideas and concepts aligned with the brand essence.
This position requires the use of both official languages. The requirements in the second official language are:
- An advanced level in reading comprehension (C)
- An intermediate level in writing (B)
- An advanced level in oral (C)
