What We’re Looking For
Argus is seeking a Reporter to join our LPG team, working with and closely supporting team editors while covering Canadian and US midcontinent LPG markets based in Calgary. The qualified candidate will produce news and market commentary on a daily basis and liaise with the US Editorial team, Sales, Business Development and Marketing to promote usage of Argus indexation in western Canada, as well as serving as a subject matter expert in podcasts and presentations.
What Will You Be Doing
The reporter in this role must develop a general understanding of how ethane, propane, butane, and condensate markets function across North America in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
You do not need prior experience of commodities markets. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a real desire to learn about markets are the primary qualities we look for in a very diverse pool of candidates.

What We Are Looking For In You
- A graduate with an applicable degree, preferably in journalism or economics.
- The ability to develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, traders, distributors) to gain market intelligence.
- Strong news judgment to support working with and interviewing subject matter experts, researching industry trends and assessing the worthiness of potential topics.
- Capacity to synthesize complex information quickly, writing market commentary, analysis and news stories in clear, concise language while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Comfort maintaining existing databases and building new databases for designated products.
- People skills to develop new contacts and relationships within the marketplace.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Self-motivation and initiative to drive projects forward with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
