Saturn has an opportunity for a full time Production Engineer based in the Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Manager, Production Engineering, the Production Engineer will analyze, design, and implement optimal production and optimization strategies for the Flat Lake area.

Some specific duties, and responsibilities of the Production Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize wells and facilities on a daily basis
  • Design, source and implement artificial lift systems to optimize production
  • Optimize and debottleneck facilities, compressors and pipeline networks in collaboration with field operations and facilities engineers
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement OPEX reduction and production optimization projects
  • Prepare, evaluate and communicate project economics
  • Work with all disciplines to ensure new production is brought online on time, on target and on cost
  • Be the primary contact between field and Calgary staff and provide exemplary technical support to field operations
  • Collaborate with measurement, operations and production accounting to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct all operations in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
  • Routine reporting and forecasting on production, cashflow and OPEX within your area
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • APEGA or ASET member in good standing
  • 5+ years of experience in the petroleum industry
  • Experience with all forms of artificial lift including candidate analysis and optimization
  • Self motivated, professional team player with strong attention to detail, and proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects successfully
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and Excel skills
  • Ability to make regular trips to the field
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
  • Solid knowledge of completions, workovers and abandonments
  • Software experience in GeoScout, PVR, Prodview, Pipesim, MBI, SRod, Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI
  • Field experience in production operations, facilities and workover operations is recommended.
