About The Role
Whether our clients are just starting a business, building bigger than ever, or simply looking for the right advice to keep things in order, our Group Retirement Consulting team is there to care for the needs of our clients today, tomorrow and every day after that.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and client-focused Financial Planner to join our team. The Financial Planner will be responsible for supporting our group plan members in their savings journey through to retirement. The Financial Planner will also be involved in delivering investment reviews to our group retirement plan sponsors. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, personable, capable and hard-working with a desire to learn and work both independently and as part of a very tight-knit team.

What You’ll Do
- Lead 1:1 meetings with Group Plan members to discuss all aspects of the Group Plan, transitioning to receiving income in Retirement, Financial wellness, and Wealth Management needs. These meetings will be both in person and virtual
- Help support group plan members with financial planning decisions through their savings journey
- Use company approved software for financial planning purposes
- Develop relationship with group plan sponsors
- Prepare and deliver group retirement investment review reports to plan sponsors
- Participate in Integrated Selling activities with other lines of Business at NFP
- Participate in Marketing activities and Webinars to promote NFP’s Retirement Business
- Represent NFP with Group Benefits and other lines of Business within NFP on multi product line initiatives
- Willingness to have fun at work and creating a warm and friendly relationship with our clients is essential!
- College or university graduate, or equivalent business experience
- Completion of the Life Licensed Qualification Program (LLQP)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) designation
- Typically, five years’ experience within the group retirement insurance industry or within the Financial Planning/Insurance industry
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Strong knowledge and experience related to group plan investment options/plans (i.e., pensions, RRSPs, DPSPs and TFSAs) and the investment categories required to build a solid investment lineup for group plan members
- Excellent listener and communicator with project management, presentation and negotiation skills
- A positive attitude and works well as a member of a team
- Strength in application of computer skills; including Word, Excel; Power Point and Outlook
- Strength in quality, detail-orientation and mathematical aptitude
- Commitment to providing excellence in client service experiences
