Reporting to the Senior Manager, Capital Markets Controllership, we are looking for a highly motivated Manager to join our Capital Markets Finance team in Toronto. This individual will play a leadership role in building a world-class, winning culture that prioritizes people development and focuses on long-term growth.
Our team is responsible for the financial reporting for OMERS Capital Markets (OCM) and its underlying strategies. This includes our financial reporting obligations for our various legal entity structures supporting our Credit business.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract (Not contracting/hourly rate)

As a Member Of This Team, You Will
- Lead and oversee month-end and year-end ledger close processes for the Capital Markets business, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with enterprise reporting standards.
- Manage and review the preparation of accounting templates and journal entries to support financial reporting deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise daily trial balance attestations, investigate material variances, and uphold a robust financial control environment.
- Oversee legal entity financial reporting activities, including the preparation and review of statutory financial statements, audit support, and tax reporting packages.
- Act as the primary liaison between Capital Markets Finance and key business partners (e.g., Corporate Accounting, Tax, Operations, Front Office, and Data teams) to resolve complex accounting issues and drive end-to-end transparency.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process automation, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and elevate the quality of financial reporting.
- Support ad hoc projects, strategic initiatives, and regulatory reporting requirements impacting the Capital Markets business.
- CPA designation
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, controllership, or audit, with a strong focus on Capital Markets or investment management.
- Advanced knowledge of financial instruments (equities, fixed income, derivatives) and strong technical accounting skills under IFRS.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy and operational excellence.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and present complex information effectively.
- Proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills and a high degree of ownership over deliverables.
- Team-oriented with a leadership mindset and a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Proficiency in enterprise financial systems such as Oracle, Calypso, or similar general ledger/reporting platforms.
- Deep understanding of IFRS accounting standards, particularly related to investment accounting and legal entity financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to process transformation initiatives, including automation, control enhancements, and close cycle improvements.
- Work with Capital Markets subject matter experts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
