About The Role
As a Steel Roller Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy steel rollers to compact soil, gravel, and asphalt in road construction projects. You will work alongside a team of construction professionals to ensure that the roadway is properly compacted to meet project specifications. This role is essential to achieving the high-quality results that ensure the longevity and safety of the finished road infrastructure.
What You’ll Accomplish
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Education Preferred: Certification in operating heavy equipment or relevant training programs.
Field of Study Preferred: Construction, Heavy Equipment Operation, or related fields.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating steel rollers or similar heavy equipment in road construction.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver's license; certification for operating heavy machinery.
Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating steel rollers and other related heavy equipment. Basic understanding of road construction, including compaction techniques and safety protocols.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel between job sites within the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas

- Work closely with the project team to ensure that the roller is used efficiently and safely on the job site.
- Monitor the compaction process, making necessary adjustments to equipment and techniques to meet project specifications.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating the equipment
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
