Job Description
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of the Digital and Information Technologies Division of the Research Institute, the Research Information Analyst plays a key role in supporting both scientific and strategic activities. The analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, clarifying, and validating the information needs of researchers and other stakeholders within the Institute.
This includes the ability to identify, extract, and integrate data from the clinical data warehouse as well as from other informational sources (both internal and external) to support research projects. The analyst works closely with technical and scientific teams to ensure the quality, consistency, and relevance of the data being used, while adhering to security, ethical, and compliance standards.

Pay Scale: $55,692.00 - $103,412.40/year. Commensurate with education & work experience.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

General Duties
- Understand and analyze researchers’ requests related to the data warehouse and other data sources, facilitate meetings to clarify needs, refine requests, and define extraction parameters.
- Collaborate with the MUHC data warehouse team to define data extraction and integration strategies within a research framework, participate in project committees as assigned.
- Contribute to the improvement of the data dictionary and related tools to support efficient data extraction and integration by users.
- Promote data warehouse services, including data extraction and integration capabilities, and deliver related training sessions.
- Analyze researchers’ requests for other IT support needs, particularly related to data access and utilization.
- Work with the RI’s information systems infrastructure team to define the technical requirements of research projects, including data architecture, access protocols, and integration strategies.
- Perform technical tasks related to data workflows, such as data extraction, transfer, transformation, and loading (ETL), in support of research projects.
- Perform any other tasks related to the role, including supporting data extraction and integration activities, as requested by the supervisor.

Education / Experience
Education: Master's Degree
- Field of Study: bioinformatics, computational biology or equivalent education.
Required Skills
- Experience working with healthcare data, including HL7 v2.x and FHIR formats.
- Knowledge of other standards (e.g., LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10) and data models (e.g., OMOP CDM) is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Python programming language, particularly for data analysis and process automation.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database management principles.
- Good mathematical, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills,
- Effective communicator, both orally and in writing,
- Fluent in French and English, spoken and written,
- Very good interpersonal skills,
- Very strong customer service orientation,
- Demonstrates ability to set priorities and organize work,
- Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately,
- Ability to set and accomplish long-term and short-term objectives, meet deadlines,
- Autonomous.
