Who We Are

At Northland, we’re enablers of change, united by our journey to transform the energy sector into the foundation for a sustainable future.

Since our inception, we’ve been early movers in the energy industry, adopting new initiatives that pave the way for communities across the globe and helping forge their path towards a carbon-neutral landscape.

We’re a different kind of independent power producer. As developers, owners and operators who are at the forefront of the energy transition, we’re uniquely positioned to leave a lasting impact in the regions where we operate. We’ve expanded our business across Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia to become a global leader, all by bringing together industry experts to find solutions with an entrepreneurial mindset.

While our work powers communities across the globe, Northland is powered by our people.

Reporting to our Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, this key role represents an opportunity to lead our full range of information and operational systems and services. As our Vice President, IT/OT, you will continue to drive excellence in end-user support, infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, enterprise business applications, project management and Operational Technology, while also leading our digital transformation journey. You will manage and implement the strategic roadmap for IT/OT, ensuring that technology is a partner in and enabler of Northland’s strategy. You will collaborate with the executive team to set priorities, allocate resources, and make strategic decisions while providing leadership to a team of technical professionals who are supporting our operations across our global geographic footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with Northland’s goals; lead the implementation of that strategy by building a well-defined plan that is both achievable and growth-oriented
  • Provide business-minded leadership to a team of technical professionals across the globe, driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, with a focus on modernizing operational data systems and streamlining finance and ERP processes to drive efficiency, improve data accuracy, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of developments in technology and the broader industry; identify opportunities for Northland to leverage new technologies to improve its operations and make recommendations to help us advance our business goals

Who You Are

You can explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences, and have a proven track record of ‘bringing along’ senior executives through complex/technical issues to get the desired outcomes to support the business.
  • A problem-solver: You are solution-oriented and proactive in identifying opportunities to improve systems and infrastructure, always exploring, and evaluating new ideas to make the organization better.
  • Results-oriented: You have a strong desire to drive business results and cultural change and can create an environment where established ways of thinking can be proactively challenged and evolve.
  • A forward-thinking people leader: You have built high-performing global teams and have experience growing managers to the next level. You are comfortable managing highly technical teams while focusing on the strategic impact to the organization. You take the time to connect with everyone on your team to build trust, foster two-way communication and ensure that you understand their challenges and ideas.
