Position Overview

The Outlet Supervisor is responsible for designated Front of the house operations during a prescribed shift. The work is typified as a full time hands-on supervisory position and includes establishing priorities, ensuring work quality and coordinating the activities of employees on shift that day. The outlet Supervisor is required to take all necessary precautions to protect the safety and health of workers and ensure that safe work practices are developed and adhered to.

Responsibilities Include

  • Work Collaboratively with the Outlet Manager to ensure consistency and standardization of department requirements
  • Ensure staff complement during prescribed shift is targeted to ensure optimum customer service
  • Lead, coach and motivate staff during prescribed shift in order to promote excellent service
  • Ensure AGLC, Casino and other provincial or federally mandated laws, policies and procedures are stringently enforced at all times and all casino policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all FOH department employees
  • Plan pre-shift meetings
  • Monitor and control department expenditures related to labour , beverage costs and other operational costs during the course of a specified shift
  • Complete and conduct employee performance appraisals
  • Complete cash outs
  • Conduct remedial/disciplinary discussions with staff in accordance with established policies and related documentation
  • Resolve department issues, providing guidance and direction to employees to ensure a positive morale and motivation of all employees is sustained at all times.
  • Maintain a visible presence to guests and staff, model effective approaches and communications in the area of customer and staff relations.
  • Communicate to the FoH Manager any staff or customer issues that may require assistance to remedy.
  • Communicate events of the shift in which you are supervising via the front of house log located on the Food & Beverage departmental shared drive.
  • Required to develop and maintain positive workplace relationships with all other Casino employees and customers whom they come in contact with.
  • Use and wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the Casino and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), regulations as well as internal health and safety policies and procedures.

Education And Experience

  • Currently a floor server or supervisor with practical hands on knowledge and experience in all facets of Food & Beverage operations
  • A valid Alberta Pro Serve Certification.
  • Proven experience in leading and motivating a team of service employees is also required.
  • Specific Casino food and beverage operational experience would be an asset.
  • A Post Secondary education in a recognized Hospitality Management program would be an asset.
  • Experience in Outlook Express, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to promote, maintain and deliver impeccable service standards at all times.
  • Customer service experience and well-developed leadership skills.
  • Excellent negotiating, oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor associates.
  • Able to work in high stress environments (work load, conflict situations, etc).
  • Ability to maintain composure even when dealing with angry or demanding patrons.
  • Must be accurate and detail oriented.
  • Accustomed to work in a team and independently.
  • Accurate and clear, concise reporting.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods at a time.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of shifts.
  • Must be aware of and able to work in a smoking environment.
  • Exposure to Scents/Perfumes.
  • May require lifting weight of up to approximately 50 lbs.
