Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for providing superior customer service in a friendly, knowledgeable and professional manner as well as focus on the achievement of pharmacy excellence in the areas of customer service, workflow efficiencies, and inventory management. The Pharmacy Assistant plays an important role in the quality and safety of our medications. They assist in the preparation, packaging and organization of the medication deliveries, which requires an exceptional attention to detail. Their support to the Pharmacists and Technicians is essential to maintaining our quality standards.
Your Day to Day:
- Adhere to all applicable policies, standards and procedures
- Prepare medication for compliance packaging clients including blister packaging, medication pouches and unit dosed fluids
- Maintain workflow and receipt of medication within prescribed timeline of receipt of prescription
- To assist in receiving and basic data entry of new prescriptions
- Receive and restock medications
- Prepare daily and weekly production reports
- Replenish shelves with reorder medications
- Maintain stock levels and order when required
- To prepare manual and automated compliance packaging
- Experience with Kroll Pharmacy software
- Strong Data–Entry skills or the potential to build the skills.
- Compounding medication (liquids, creams, lotions, ointments)
- Prepare daily and weekly delivery orders
- Maintain stock levels and complete order management when required
- Manually prepare and/or utilize automated compliance packaging to package medications
- Assist with filing of prescriptions, patient documentation and patient information
- Administrative Duties: assist in cycle counts, narcotic counts and return to stock inventory
- Ensure area is clean and free of garbage and debris at all times
- Assist with other pharmacy operations as required and within your scope

What You Will Bring to The Team:
- Pharmacy Assistant experience
- KROLL Pharmacy system experience
- Experience with PacMed and SynMed Systems an asset (specifically for production)
- Compliance Packaging experience
- Experience in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or long term care pharmacy is an asset
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as work independently in a fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage work flow in order to meet deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
- Ability to sit, stand and walk throughout the day
