The Opportunity:
Canada's largest food retailer is looking for a Director to join an Agile team environment to help build the plan and strategies for the accelerated plans to enable the SAP transformation program. This position provides the opportunity to engage and work with various business stakeholders across Loblaw Technology and the vendor community. As a leader you will oversee the focus areas of the team which include program governance, release management, stability and continuous improvement streams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal and seamless execution of the ERP modernization program while supporting and developing the strategy and vision for the future capabilities. Our goal is to modernize and enhance the ERP and ensure we are adding value when touching each functional area. The technical changes should be the trigger for review of processes and customizations and drive to a more simplistic design and process that is closer to standard functionality (ie: “SAP Clean Core Approach”). This role consists of owning and managing cross functional streams and influencing the sequence and priority of streams of work. The candidate will be required to implement strong diligence and processes that allow for the development of plans while executing with precision and authority. This will include continuous improvement opportunities, process and technology adoption while ensuring enterprise-wide change management & communication plans are in place and executed.

What You'll Do:
- Build and manage the relationship with the business owners to ensure awareness and knowledge of the application landscape and strategic vision.
- Build a scalable management process that allows for appropriate planning and execution of streams of work that may be outside of direct accountability
- Advocate for capability roadmap for continuous value add features while ensuring timelines can be met and value achieved
- Prepare strategy, documentation, presentations and make recommendations for other technical/functional aspects related to the application roadmap
- Review and understand new and innovative ways to implement solutions. Able to translate between the application available features and business needs – influence and educate the business on options and value to implement with success.
- Lead and coordinate meetings and discussions internally within Loblaw Technology and with business stakeholders to help drive the prioritization and plan.
- Lead a support team through break fix, release cycles and ad hoc support to ensure stable operations.
- Build partnerships with business leads to develop strategy and sequencing of improvements and recommendations, as well as align internal and vendor plans to deliver value.
- Lead and coordinate within Loblaw Technology and with business stakeholders find synergies and identify overlap or competing priorities in the plan.
- Support reporting and analytics to understand and interpret the data to provide outputs and value through the data
- Build strategic plans and work to review application roadmaps to align internal strategy to the vendor strategies.
- Support cross functional teams and projects while being able to collaborate and provide insights across the teams.
- Develop and process maps and day in the life of storyboarding to help influence decisions and projects while keeping the experience top of mind
- A continuous improvement and proactive mindset to push the business forward
- Ability to manage risks, issues & conflict resolution and improve team dynamics
- Skilled in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques. Exceptional organization and Jira hands on experience is required.
- Guide, coach and motivate the team from a distance to be highly effective, self-organized, productive and accountable, with an emphasis on exceeding expectations
- Provides recommendations and best practices based on market intelligence and research to deliver on the best possible end user experience
- Proactively manage expectations to cope with changing and conflicting priorities
- Remain current with innovations and creative solutions to provide process efficiencies / automation
- Ability to influence without authority and provide insights and well thought out messages that resonate with the team
- Be on site during cutovers and critical timeframes to better understand both pain points and value add processes. Understand workflows to advise and influence change where required.
- Experience in managing large, complex technology programs and projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in complex SAP ECC to SAP S/4 migrations and/or experience implementing new S/4 solutions
- 5+ years in technology leadership experience
- Collaborative approach
- Hands on experience building and communicating roadmaps and strategies
- Strong understanding of best practices and ability to understand how new innovations, enhancements and platforms can contribute to a positive experience
- Understand how to apply the interpretation of data to enhance / optimize the tools & end user experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to learn new skills and apply them quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to lead conversations and discussions to outcomes and impacts
- Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills that will help drive teams to reach full potential
- Understands project and portfolio management and can see big picture / macro level insights to sequence and deliver in a logical way
- Understanding of workflows and data / process mapping.
- Ability to think creatively to solve problem and / or proactively implement solutions for expected issue
- Experience developing and implementing strategic change plans, governance models and technology roadmaps
- Ability to consolidate and simplify complex problems into a recommendation and / or plan
- Experience in Retail environment preferred
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related discipline.
