Summary: The Buyer 2 is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials to support manufacturing operations. This role works cross- functionally with AP, engineering, production, receiving, etc. to achieve shared organizational goals. Monitors the cost and schedule of released Purchase Orders to assure highest quality at best value while maintaining ERP data.

Salary range: $55,000 to $70,000 CAD, depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understands and executes end-to-end procurement process efficiently, including evaluating purchasing requisitions, attaining quotes, considering bids, making awards, and resolving payment issues
  • Issues and manages purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications
  • Maintains master data integrity in ERP system; including supplier information and purchase order accuracy, lead times, and delivery dates
  • Initiates cost reductions and cost targets of assigned materials
  • Monitors inventory levels and coordinate with planning to prevent shortages or excess
  • Resolves issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, and invoice variances
  • Initiates and facilitates process improvements initiatives as assigned
  • Creates and maintains work instructions as assigned
  • Follows established standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
  • Builds stable working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understands, supports, and executes all work according to the established procedures of the organization
  • Recognizes and understands escalation procedures
  • Project based assignments as requested

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Procurement
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Technical understanding of engineering drawings / BOMs
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to occasionally pick up parts or materials from local vendor

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP, and e-mail systems
  • Self-starter who is willing to learn and grow in procurement profession area
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and eager to succeed
  • Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, goals and objectives for self
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams and external suppliers
