- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by payroll administration courses and/or coursework with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA).
- Considerable related computerized payroll experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation through the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is required.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll accounting systems, wage classification codes, and payroll best practices.
- Strong understanding of collective agreements, relevant provincial and federal legislation, and employee benefit programs.
- Considerable knowledge of payroll-related data processing procedures.
- Sound knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and office administration procedures.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex payroll rules, regulations, and agreements accurately.
- Ability to prepare payrolls, reports, and reconciliations under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to train and guide staff on timekeeping and payroll processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, departments, and external agencies.
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours bi-weekly (Approximately 2 days per week or additional as required).
- This is a temporary part-time auxiliary position with an anticipated duration of approximately twenty-four (24) months. The term may be shortened or extended depending on operational needs.
- Auxiliary position receives: 14% in lieu of: Vacation, Stat Holidays, Welfare benefits.
