ABOUT THE ROLE



Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, and under the guidance of a senior staff, is responsible for carrying out assignments for specific projects or programs related to the design of traffic control signals and street lighting; conducting activities related to transportation programs or processes; assisting Department users with their business requirements and detailed designs; manipulating business data; producing reports for internal users and external clients; assisting in projects and budgets through process design and construction or quality assurance activities; and providing support in the research, design, analysis and planning activities of the Branch.



WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING




  • Assists in ensuring that procedures are carried out according to plans, specifications and contract standards.

  • Provides input and technical support for projects under the direction of Management and/or Senior staff.

  • Research and analyses data to determine requirements and provides supporting data for reports, as required.

  • Documents business process changes/business impact of application modifications.

  • Checks and records measurements

  • Provides input on business process changes and impact of implementation.

  • Liaises with internal and external staff, outside agencies, contractors, and the public on projects and provides technical information, as directed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.



WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR




  • Successful completion of a three-year Community College Diploma Program in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering Technology or Electrical.

  • Up to one year experience working in a Traffic Control signal and street lighting environment.

  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.

  • Knowledge of applicable guidelines, procedures, standards and legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of program development, planning, design and construction and Traffic Control signal and street lighting environment and Construction.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
