Position Summary

The Welder will be responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as elevator and lift frames, tanks, and other related products. This role ensures the structural integrity and quality of the final product, meeting customer specifications and safety standards.

This position is 100% on-site, Surrey, BC

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks on various elevator components, including structural steel, brackets, and other metal parts used in elevator systems.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Set up the workstation and welding equipment, ensuring proper fixtures and jigs are in place.
  • Secure parts using bolts, clamps, and tack welds for welding according to specifications.
  • Lay out, align, and fit components together, then weld using MIG, TIG, or gas-shielded arc welding processes.
  • Inspect completed welds for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Record job completion and quality checks using digital software (e.g., Pivot88).
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Mindset, Skills & Education

  • High School Diploma required. Must hold CWB certification to testing Standard CSA W47.1-03 for Carbon Steel using the GMAW process, flat position (thickness range of 3 mm and above).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be able to safely use a respirator mask as required for welding tasks in accordance with safety regulations
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, or gas-shielded arc welding techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools for metalworking.
