Senior Project Engineer – Lines & Interconnections

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Transmission Lines & Interconnections for a contract role based in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team supporting the planning, design, and execution of complex transmission projects across British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support engineering activities for medium to high-complexity transmission projects, ensuring designs are technically sound, safe, and compliant with applicable standards.
• Coordinate multi-discipline design teams across the project lifecycle—from concept development to commissioning.
• Analyze and resolve technical challenges, provide design recommendations, and prepare comprehensive progress and status reports.
• Interface with internal teams and external stakeholders to align project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
• Ensure design solutions meet safety, cost, quality, and schedule expectations.
• Oversee engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Participate in risk identification and mitigation planning throughout the engineering process.
• Contribute to internal engineering standards and mentor less experienced team members as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Registered (or eligible for immediate registration) as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
• Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, including substantial involvement in transmission line projects.
• At least 4 years of experience leading or coordinating multi-discipline design teams on infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership abilities with a proven ability to work cross-functionally.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Assets / Nice to Have:

• Experience on telecom, protection and control, or substation-related projects.
• Prior experience supporting complex utility or power delivery projects.
• Familiarity with construction practices and site experience on large infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of project management methodologies and engineering QA/QC practices.
