We provide Canadian dentists and dental practices with an array of non-clinical support and resources, including accounting, HR, marketing, as well as supply & equipment procurement.

Job Overview:

The Compensation Specialist is a subject matter expert responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing compensation programs across the organization. This role leads the annual compensation review process, ensures compliance with provincial pay equity and pay transparency legislation, and provides policy recommendations and guidance to HR and business leaders. The specialist also partners across functions to support program execution, contribute to the implementation of the new HCM compensation module, and drive governance and process improvements across all compensation programs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Year-End Compensation Process

  • Lead the organization’s year-end compensation review process, including merit increases and bonus recommendations.
  • Develop compensation budgets and models to support annual planning of headcount budgeting, merit-based pay, and funding of variable pay.
  • Develop compensation guidelines and a governance handbook aligned with our total rewards strategy and principles.
  • Create year-end compensation communication material and tools for people leaders to assist with employee conversations.

Pay Equity & Transparency Compliance

  • Monitor and interpret provincial pay equity and pay transparency legislation across provinces (BC, Ontario and Quebec).
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports (e.g., pay equity plans or pay transparency disclosures) to meet compliance.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with pay equity and pay transparency requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits of compensation practices to identify and address potential regulatory compliance gaps.

Program and Project Support

  • Develop, implement, and enhance compensation programs for corporate and clinic staff, including base pay and incentive plans.
  • Contribute to compensation-related projects such as pay structure reviews, incentive plan enhancements, and job architecture.
  • Lead the upcoming launch of the compensation module within the new HCM system, collaborating with HR Technology, Shared Services, and other stakeholders to ensure readiness and accuracy.
  • Help streamline compensation processes to improve operational efficiency and governance.
  • Work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure programs are aligned with business needs and total rewards strategy.
  • Support change management and communication efforts related to compensation program rollouts.

Education, Credentials, Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in compensation, with demonstrated knowledge of Canadian pay equity and pay transparency regulations.
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, with an advanced focus on Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with HCM systems and compensation tools (ideally Workday).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex information.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex compensation topics clearly to various audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity.
