GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director, IT Infrastructure is responsible for evaluating current and future enterprise infrastructure needs in the context of a modern, cloud-first, secure, and compliant IT strategy. This person will manage the design, transformation, and application of information systems that support the enterprise infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business growth, regulatory expectations, and evolving customer needs in the financial services sector.

This role will oversee departmental sub-functions within the broader IT organization, establish forward-looking infrastructure objectives, drive the migration from on-premises to AWS cloud infrastructure, and enforce budgetary discipline and policies aligned to industry compliance and security standards.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all aspects of IT infrastructure operations and support, across on-premises, hybrid, and AWS cloud environments.
  • Recommends and participates in activities related to the design, development, transformation, and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture (EA), including cloud-native and serverless architectures.
  • Maintains and optimizes the IT infrastructure budget, including cloud cost governance (e.g., AWS budgeting, forecasting, and cost control mechanisms).
  • Leads infrastructure modernization initiatives and complex technical projects, including cloud migration programs, platform upgrades, and legacy decommissioning.
  • Manages, uses, and maintains IT/technology architecture models across operational, data warehousing, and business intelligence environments—evolving these toward scalable, cloud-first architectures.
  • Researches overall ICT (Information and Communication Technology) solutions for specific technical requirements, cloud capabilities, compliance needs, and business objectives in a highly regulated financial environment.
  • Implements AWS and hybrid-cloud strategy as part of the IT/technology architecture roadmap—ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Conducts and/or actively participates in project meetings, locally and internationally, with business units, clients, vendors, and partners to ensure alignment of cloud and infrastructure deliverables.
  • Advises and recommends enterprise architecture and AWS cloud strategies, processes, security controls, and implementation methodologies.
  • Implements the strategy for the development and modernization of IT/technology infrastructure and architecture workstreams, including automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Recommends and participates in strategic and operational planning to ensure EA objectives are consistent with the enterprise's long-term business and risk goals.
  • Shares best practices, lessons learned, and continuously updates the technical system architecture to reflect cloud-native approaches, industry trends, and vendor advancements (e.g., AWS Well-Architected Framework).
  • Participates in and leads Architecture Working Groups for the continuous development, governance, and lifecycle management of enterprise architecture.
  • Collaborates with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure solutions meet business objectives and comply with internal and external audit and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, FFIEC).
  • Recommends the most suitable technical architecture and defines solution frameworks that are cloud-ready, secure, and aligned with business needs.
  • Recommends and participates in the development of infrastructure and system blueprints, including network, security, storage, and compute services on AWS.
  • Identifies and recommends areas for further study and pilots new infrastructure technologies (e.g., containerization, IaC, observability) to validate feasibility and alignment with business goals.
  • Identifies implementation risks, including cloud migration challenges and cybersecurity threats, and analyzes their impact on the enterprise's objectives.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of IT service management (ITSM) standards, tools (e.g., ServiceNow), and methodologies, in alignment with ITIL v4.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains procedures related to service catalog and service level management, including SLOs for cloud services and third-party integrations.
  • Accountable for the identification, management, and mitigation of all infrastructure risks that could impact departmental and business objectives, including customer experience, security, and compliance.
  • Fosters a risk-aware culture, promoting proactive identification and escalation of risks, including those related to cloud operations and third-party dependencies.
  • Escalates significant risk-related developments to senior leadership in a timely manner to ensure transparency and support resolution efforts.
  • Ensures awareness and compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements relevant to IT infrastructure, cloud operations, and data handling.
  • Promotes fairness and transparency in customer outcomes, particularly in the context of IT-related incidents, outages, and availability.
