The DHC-AMO is leading the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada business unit specializing in maintenance, refurbishment and major modifications of both new and factory built DHC aircraft. We are actively acquiring used Dash 8-400 and Classic series aircraft for conversion and refurbishment, including cargo combi configurations, package freighter modifications, large cargo door installations, and avionics upgrades. As the final delivery site for Twin Otter aircraft. we also handle the repair, refurbishment, and modernization of damaged or operating aircraft. Additionally, we are revitalizing the CL-215 program with universal avionics upgrades and enhancing Sherpa SD3-60 aircraft with similar advancements.

We're currently looking for a Technical Estimator to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Technical Estimator is responsible for all aspects providing quotes for maintenance visit, repairs, and modifications for customers and DHC internal stake holders. The Technical Estimator also play a strategic role on interfacing with sales to define the aircraft configuration and related scope of work for company owned assets prior to customer delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engage with Sales, Asset Management, and Technical Records to gain a full understanding of current and desired aircraft configuration, loose equipment needs, certification requirements, and services desired

  • Enhance or create and maintain all the processes and tools needed to support the estimation process and quote development tasks for the MRO/AMO business unit
  • Establish metrics to quantify estimation accuracy and timeliness of quote availability. Trend performance against those metrics and review with the MRO Planning Manager at the receipt of each Purchase Agreement and the completion of each contract
  • Identify gaps in the estimating and quoting process as it evolves to match business conditions Drive continuous improvement initiatives to generate ever-better estimation accuracy and timeliness
  • Develop an understanding of the maintenance planning process within the MRO/AMO sufficient to:
  • Ensure a direct tie between how estimates are built and how they will be planned and executed
  • To serve a brief back-up for that role when directed by the MRO Planning Manager to cover absences or balance workloads
  • Share estimation and quoting details to support DHC stakeholders in the creation and update of business cases
  • Provide insights from the estimation perspective to improve performance and facilitate efficient and effective planning and execution of work
  • Analyze and assemble historical cost performance data to provide decision-support information throughout the pursuit of business opportunities
  • Interface with the Sales team to provide business development support for all MRO/AMO-related work including quotes, timelines, hangar and resource availability, and technical questions
  • Provide Input to various departments to improve performance and ensure efficient and effective planning of work with Quality, Production, OH&S
  • Other duties as assigned


Education And Professional Qualifications

  • AME Transport Canada License, Aviation related Degree or Engineering Degree.
  • Master’s degree or MBA will be considered an asset.


Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance/modification planning
  • Minimum 2 years of aircraft bidding and quoting process
  • Must have working knowledge of CAA regulations, cost accounting, and cost estimating
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Business development experience will be considered an asset
  • De Havilland aircraft (DHC8, DHC6, CL) experience will be considered an asset
