Electrical Utilities Manager

We’re hiring an experienced and forward-thinking Electrical Utilities Manager to take full ownership of a complex high-voltage distribution system (up to 69kV) with a great client in Vancouver.

This role is not focused on project management—instead, it requires a seasoned power systems professional with strong technical expertise and proven leadership ability to manage daily operations, drive strategic development, and lead continuous improvement across the department.

What you’ll do as an Electrical Utilities Manager:

• Lead the Electrical Utilities department, managing people, processes, and strategic direction while guiding engineers, trades, and technical staff in daily operations and project execution
• Oversee the planning, design, and operation of medium and high-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with Canadian Electrical Code, WorkSafeBC, MMCD, and TSBC standards
• Collaborate with regulators, utilities, and internal stakeholders to maintain safe and reliable power delivery, while providing expert advice on infrastructure capacity, upgrades, and academic initiatives
• Handle tender creation and evaluation for capital projects, work with Procurement, and deliver statistical reports on outages and system performance
• Conduct site inspections and audits, provide technical oversight and emergency response leadership including outage management, incident reporting, and mitigation planning
• Champion innovation and long-term planning by developing new utility design standards and infrastructure strategies

What you’ll bring as an Electrical Utilities Manager:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong preference for candidates already holding a P.Eng. designation, though those actively pursuing it will be considered
• Deep experience in power systems engineering, particularly in medium and high-voltage design and operations
• Solid understanding of Canadian electrical regulations and underground utility standards
• Ability to oversee all facets of the Utilities department, including design, maintenance, operations, and capital projects
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding technical teams and managing day-to-day operational priorities
• Strategic mindset combined with hands-on expertise in utility planning, budgeting, and ensuring system reliability
