Agilus is recruiting for a Fire Protection Specialist in the Fire Protection Service Industry in Edmonton, Alberta.
This is a fantastic full-time permanent opportunity open to candidates with intermediate experience. Our client is looking for a team player with a great work ethic and who can hit the ground running!
Responsibilities:
- Design automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with the requirements of current codes (building code & NFPA)
- Prepare general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD & HydraCAD/ AutoSPRINK software
- Complete hydraulic calculations utilizing HydraCAD or AutoSPRINK software to determine sprinkler head selection, piping sizes, fire pump sizes
- Conduct fire protection assessment utilizing AFT Fathom software
- Coordinate fire protection piping layouts with other trades such as HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, etc.
- Prepare material orders and fabrication documents based on the fire protection drawings
- Review fire protection designs prepared by others, ensuring designs are safe, efficient, effective, and practical
- Participate in project meetings with project managers & other trades for project coordination
Requirements:
- Being a team player with a great attitude is a must-have
- University/college degree or diploma in Fire Protection (for example, CFPE, CFPS, FPT etc)
- 4+ years' experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection design; understanding of NFPA standards, Building Code, and FM Global guidelines
- Working experience of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
- Working experience of HydraCAD, AutoSprink or equivalent sprinkler design
- Working experience of AFT Fathom or equivalent hydraulic analysis design is an asset
- Working experience of 3D drafting, BIM, Revit would be considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
