Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Measure weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
  • Perform pre-operational inspection
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Pave and rake asphalt
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites
  • Remove litter and garbage
  • Perform general labouring duties
  • Shovel cement and other materials into cement mixers, spread concrete and asphalt on road surfaces using shovels, rakes and hand tampers
