We are looking for:
An experienced Project Engineer / Project Manager to support the Chemical Manufacturing facility at the Cytec Niagara Falls, Canada site. Primary responsibilities will be to lead capital project installations at this site. Typical Project budgets will be around $3,000,000 CAD per annum for multiple projects in total and focus on process and capacity improvements, new product introduction in existing assets and maintenance activities. Compliance with all codes, standards, safe work requirements and project management best practices is a core expectation for this position.
This role reports to our Site Projects Group Manager and interacts with other Project Engineers/Project Managers, Area Process/Operations Engineers and the Site Maintenance, Operations and HSE Teams.

This role reports to our Site Projects Group Manager and interacts with other Project Engineers/Project Managers, Area Process/Operations Engineers and the Site Maintenance, Operations and HSE Teams.

- Demonstrated ability to directly complete all phases of project planning and
- Participate in all phases of a project, including scope definition, cost/benefit analysis, design, testing, implementation, and support.
- Complete investigations into alternative solutions to identified problems and prepare associated assessment grade cost estimates on proposed solutions.
- Complete or oversee necessary detailed process and other engineering design elements.
- Prepare necessary project planning packages to support final project funding requests including definition phase cost estimate, resource loaded project schedule, project execution plan, project risk register; ensure completion of appropriate Safety (Hazards) reviews.
- Manage projects within prescribed deadlines and budgets, supporting the execution of project plan activities in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Ensure workstream and function understanding of Business Readiness stage gate deliverables.
- Provide and coordinate change management and employee engagement activities to ensure systems are implemented positively, with corresponding business process redesign and training.
- Keep company management informed of project status through ongoing contact, communication, and presentations.
- Act as an internal project resource on other company or corporate projects or initiatives, providing business process knowledge, facilitation, leadership skills, and system development experience.
- Advocates the project through the funding approval stage and able to manage project procurement and contracting phase.
- Lead project execution phase including field supervision of construction activities; ensure safe work practices by contractors and field personnel.
- Proper turnover of completed projects to the operating unit and proper completion of final project documentation.
- Overall ownership of assigned projects to deliver the agreed scope of each one on time, on budget and with no safety or environmental incidents.
- As part of the annual Capital Budgeting process, makes proposals for areas of upgrade or operational improvement to the manufacturing process or utility systems.

- Bachelor’s Level Degree or Equivalent; Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is acceptable, if direct experience in executing projects on Chemical Processes Unit is preferred
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) – those without registration as a P.Eng. with PEO should be eligible to receive a P.Eng. designation with PEO within a year.
- 6+ years of chemical process industry work experience
- Experience must be in a facility operated to world-class standards in the areas of Safety, Health & Environment as they pertain to process safety, maintenance work and the use of contractors.
- Experience in Process Design and/or supervision as well as implementing Process Safety Management requirements or recommendations coming from Process Hazards Analyses
- Completed projects in manufacturing units that handle hazardous materials including corrosives, flammables and pyrophorics.
- Familiarity with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Experience in both batch and continuous chemical process environments.
- Experience in implementing projects where the manufacturing systems interface with a Distributed Control System (DCS)
- Experience in start-up and commissioning new systems or units after project completion.
