Overview
The Physician Navigator works with Emergency Department physicians in an attempt to streamline and improve their workflow by removing non clinical tasks that physicians would normally perform while on shift. By assisting physicians in activities which are often clerical in nature, the physician navigator will:

- Improve the efficiency of the physician
- Improve communication between members of the health care team (physicians, nurses, clerks

- Working knowledge of computer software applications in a Microsoft Office environment required.

- Able to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult people or situations required.
- Strong communication, organizational, time management and problem solving skills required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressured environment with simultaneous demands required.
- Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive patient data and information.
- Must understand appropriate “sequencing” of patient needswhile balancing physician workflow.
- Concentration required, listening and communicating effectively with internal and external clients to obtain information.
- Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required.
- Enrollment in post-secondary education related to engineering or sciences preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year related work experience required.
- Previous experience in a health care environment, specifically emergency services or urgent
- Demonstrated ability to compile, organize, and disseminate patient information to key patient
- A strong understanding of metrics and key quality indicators related to pay for results.
- Demonstrates superior organizational skills
