In this role, you will:
- Primary Functions:
- Report to the Senior Business Development Manager – Land and be responsible for supporting Babcock Canada’s Land opportunities and where appropriate, leading the development and execution of bespoke programs in line with business strategy;
- Support the development and management of an opportunity pipeline consistent with Babcock Canada’s business strategies and goals in the Land sector, focussing on the efforts necessary to justify transition from BD to Capture Phase;
- Support and lead market positioning activities and identify/establish relationships with key customers/stakeholders;
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential partners, subcontractors, and acquisitions as appropriate supporting all campaigns;
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams to develop winning proposals in response to customer programmatic, technical and cost requirements; and
- Promote Babcock in Canadian Defence, Civil and Commercial Land markets.
- Capture Management Activities:
- Act as the BD lead for assigned capture opportunities;
- Lead the identification of customer requirements and shaping of those requirements to align with Babcock’s specific capabilities and offerings;
- Support and when appropriate lead the development of proposal, pricing, teaming, and bid strategies for assigned key capture opportunities;
- Support the identification of and development of relationships with potential teaming partners, subcontractors, consultants and subject matter experts essential to the pursuit of individual business opportunities;
- Support the development of teaming and work sharing agreements for individual business opportunities;
- Lead the development of capture plans, technical and management approaches, win strategies, discriminators, and approaches to competitive positioning;
- Support and at times lead capture and proposal teams in the development of management, technical and pricing proposals to meet individual bid requirements;
- Have functional responsibility for personnel assigned in support of role execution; and
- Undertake other duties as necessary and directed.
- Provide support to other Business Development Sector Campaigns:
- Capture and bid support (including business development sponsored events etc.); and
- Lead for specific technology & innovation initiatives.
- Provide support to wider business operations
- Program management support to program activities where required;
- Provide Land focussed technical support across the business, including but not restricted to business development activities;
- Responsible for the occupational health & safety of all direct reports; and
- Foster / strengthen links with other Babcock organizations / trusted partners.
- Degree in a related discipline is preferred;
- Minimum of 6 years experience in the past 8+ years in the Land Sector with a total of 8 or more years of overall experience;
- Significant experience in the Canadian Army with preference to experience in the combat arms or logistics trades;
- Exceptional ability to act proactively and work independently in a self-directed manner;
- Strong leadership and motivational skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of federal procurement program requirements and processes;
- Knowledge of project management principles, processes and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Army systems, operations and platforms;
- Experience working with both federal, provincial and commercial Land clients;
- Proven experience in communicating complex information to personnel at all organizational levels, from team members through to executive management;
- Proven experience working collaboratively in multi disciplined cross functional teams
- Proven experience building and managing customer relationships to seek out and identify new business opportunities; and
- Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security Clearance, ITAR and Controlled Goods
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and overseas where reasonably expected in prosecution of opportunities.
