Reporting to the VP, Loss Mitigation, the Recovery Manager will be responsible for leading and facilitating the execution of Sagen’s collection and post claim litigation strategy within the Loss Mitigation function.

Here is where you will be focusing to ensure your success.

Claim Recovery Management

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all recovery related processes including judgement enforcement, proof of claim filings on bankruptcies, file outsourcing, remittance and invoice processing.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Loss Mitigation team regarding all recovery and enforcement related initiatives.
  • Manage all settlement negotiations and payment arrangements with borrowers and law firms.

Customer Experience

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with key lenders to collaborate on recovery efforts, review and manage lender escalations, and keep up to date with industry best practice related to collection and recoveries.

Vendor Management

  • Maintain relationships with third parties, including recovery management companies, collection agencies, and law firms to discuss optimal recovery solutions and negotiate settlement terms.
  • Provide oversight to collection agencies while monitoring performance and ensuring accountability on all collection files.

System Enhancements

  • Develop and design optimal workflows as part of the DMS modernization initiative to streamline processing, increase automation and enhance overall governance of the recovery process.
  • Perform ongoing workflow reviews to ensure recovery and enforcement process continue to be optimal and effective.

Post Claim Litigation

  • Collaborate with the VP, Loss Mitigation and the legal team to identify and recommend opportunities to initiate legal action to recover funds.
  • In consultation with external legal counsel, lead all post claim litigation cases and act as a Sagen representative for court examinations and trials.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Track 3rd party recovery performance, analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and generate reports for senior management detailing recovery progress and potential opportunities.

Compliance Management

  • Ensure all recovery activities adhere to relevant insurance regulations, legal guidelines, and company policies.

What We Are Looking For.

  • University or college degree.
  • Minimum 5 years claims/credit collection experience.
  • Proven experience in developing effective process workflows to streamline and increase efficiency.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and Provincial collection laws, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and Lender specific credit/collection policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in negotiating, influencing and having difficult conversations to resolve issues.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling the incumbent to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in analyzing data to understand issues and trends.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to ensure the needs of the business are being met.
  • Working knowledge of the various department and company databases and Microsoft Office software/programs.

This position requires work from our Oakville office but offers a flexible hybrid work model that allows employees to work remotely from their home office.
